FAQ

Here, you'll find the answers to frequently asked questions. We would be happy to provide you with whatever information you need. Please contact us if your question is not listed below.

What is metal spinning?
Metal spinning is a non-cutting, cold shaping technique in which the metal is rotated at high speed.
What advantages does metal spinning offer?
Metal spinning is a highly precise, quick and cheap process for shaping metal into rotationally symmetrical hollow parts. It often yields advantages over other types of metal shaping when it comes to prototype development or serial production of up to 10,000 pieces per batch. The shaping costs are comparatively low and your ideas are quickly given form in a tangible product. We also offer numerous additional services for other requirements relating to your spun parts.
What information do I need to supply if I want to assign Wender to produce a spun part?
  • CAD data: all common file formats
  • 3D printing data
  • Drawings: including everything from sketches to technical drawings
  • Sample parts, 3D print
Which spinning processes does Wender offer?
  • Hand spinning
  • Hydraulic spinning
  • pnc/cnc – and automatically controlled (playback process)
  • Shear Forming
Which metals can be spun?
Almost all metals and alloys can be processed in this way.
What are the maximum dimensions for a Wender spun metal product?
We produce metal objects with a maximum diameter of 900 mm and a maximm wall thickness of 4mm.
How precise is metal spinning?
We are capable of producing products with a tolerance of up to 0.05 mm.
Are the spun parts trimmed?
Yes, all spun parts are trimmed as standard. If you require additional further processing or services, we would be happy to attend to your needs.
Which additional services can Wender offer for my spun parts?
Working in-house and with our partner firms, we are able to offer a virtually gap-free range of services.

Can I order single parts, prototypes or small batches?
Metal spinning is excellently suited for single parts, prototypes, custom products or small batches. This is because it can be used on a range of materials and is therefore often significantly cheaper and quicker than other metal-shaping techniques.
Is metal spinning suitable for serial production?
Yes, metal spinning is excellently suited for serial production of up to 10,000 pieces per batch. We will use the best-suited and most cost-effective mould for your needs.
Will my spun parts be packaged?
Yes. Upon request, we will package your spun parts according to your requirements.
When will I receive my order?
You may collect your parts from us within 10 working days of the agreed delivery date. If nothing to the contrary is stated in the order confirmation, the delivery should be assumed to be ex works.
What kind of surface will my spun parts have when they're delivered?
The surface of our finished parts is raw and untreated. Our parts are generally clean; however, some residues from the manufacturing process may remain. Special cleaning (e.g. ultrasound cleaning, degreasing) can be easily carried out upon request (see "Additional Services").
